The X Agroecology Seminar in Santa Catarina, held in CAV/UDESC/Lages, on May 13 and 14, 2022, was organized by a collective of 21 public and civil society institutions, related to agroecological production and consumption. At the same time, there was a fair trade with products from solidarity economy and family farming, in addition to the exhibition of equipment and supplies. The event had 504 registered participants. The central theme was: “Agroecology for life: Conservation, management and use of biodiversity in health promotion”. The activities were aimed at farmers, consumers, students and technicians.

The seminar had an opening conference, 21 workshops, a round of conversation, presentation of 31 technical and scientific works, six round tables and a closing conference. The schedule can be accessed through the following electronic address https://doity.com.br/10sca. The works presented at the event and evaluated by the technical-scientific committee will be submitted for publication in the ‘Moving Environments’ (https://ojs.sites.ufsc.br/index.php/am) academic journal of the Research Group in Social and Environmental Analysis of the Santa Catarina Highland, based at the Rural Sciences Center of the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

The thematic committees created to organize the event were: a Central Group, with representatives from EPAGRI, UFSC, IFSC, Lages City Hall and UDESC. These entities also served on the Infrastructure Commission. In addition, the commissions constituted were Communication and Dissemination; of Culture; the Seed Fair; Finance and Resources; Technical-Scientific; Theme and Workshops. In addition, one of the methodological practices that guide our action is self-management. We are a collective of 21 institutions that decided to work in a network and horizontally at the X Seminar on Agroecology of Santa Catarina. Throughout the event, we had the solidarity and spontaneous contribution of different people in the most diverse activities that an event of this size needs: accreditation, food, accommodation, transport, fair, workshops, lectures, cultural moments, etc.

The X Seminar on Agroecology of Santa Catarina was a democratic space for debates and exchanges of experiences on the paths already taken by agroecology and strengthening for the challenges that arise. The organizing committee thanks everyone for participating in this event and invites all interested parties to get involved in the construction of agroecology in their respective territories.
